Pillows

I've been on a search for pillows for my living room since we bought the house. I have some that I've had the past six years, but I was hoping to find some on sale and fresh looking. After seeing a post yesterday on facebook about Kirklands, I googled it to see what kind of store it is. I google everything on a daily work basis. Love google. Oh my! The store is awesome and reminds me so much of Gordmans. While browsing the website I came across these pillows which I adore. So I made a purchase today! I love online shopping. :) I almost just purchased the brown ones and to try and find a solid in the blue, but I loved them both so what the heck all pillows will be in the same print.

Wednesday Ramblings

...Thanks for all your comments on the Deodorant post. I will have to give Secret Clinical a try. I never used to be a sweater in the pit area until this past year or so. I hate it. Now if I can only resolve the white marks on my clothes. If it's the weekend I'll put Mike's deodorant on since it's clear and works like it's suppose to, but I don't want to smell like a man. lol Bring on the cold weather! :)

...I cannot believe it's almost July. This year has really flown by. This time last year we looked at our house for the first time and signed our contract July 31st. I only know the exact date because it's my dad's birthday. :)

...After being gone from work, it's been a struggle to get back into the work routine. A week really throws a person off track. So sleepy these past few days. I will try my best at posting in the near future since work is about to pick up again. :(

...They started ground work this past week or so for Kohls. Yay! A few weeks ago a representative from Kohls said there wasn't a store going in and no plans in the future for one to go in Rolla. Well it's a done deal with signed contract and all. I guess that corporate person had no idea what they were talking about. Obviously! :)

...Last week Mike and I didn't have time to do the one thing I wanted to try... take a helicopter ride at the Lake of the Ozarks. It's not nothing super special, just something I've always wanted to experience. We don't have time the next couple of weekends, but it's a for sure thing to do this summer. :)

Morning Storm

Picture doesn't show the storm as nasty as it actually looked. lol This was taken on my way to work this morning from my phone of the Vichy Airport. I swear this darn thing followed me all the way to work. It was bright and sunny everywhere I drove and every time I looked in my rear view mirror this nasty storm was right behind me. lol Even though it didn't look the greatest it still seemed so serene to see a storm moving in and not the kind we've had in the recent past with tornadoes.

Vacation Recap

- Mike and I went for a bike ride on the Katy Trail in Rocheport then headed to the local winery for a late lunch. Never again. Our food was disgusting, good thing it wasn't expensive. It was a super hot day so we didn't ride as long as I had wanted to.

I-70 Bridge.

Mike and I taking a breather. Not only was it hot but the mosquitoes were everywhere. Guess that's what we get for riding right next to the river.

Missouri River rising.

I thought this was neat. Water was shooting out of the cliff.

- Went shopping with mom and ate at Holt Summit Winery. Food was so much better than Rocheports. I was hoping to find some metal wall art for my living room. Didn't have any luck in that department.

- Put mulch out in my back flower bed along with an old water can my grandma and grandpa Elrod had. Looks 10 times better. Pictures to come soon.

- Got all my windows cleaned. Aw such a relief to finally get that done. My hands are happy now too. They don't feel raw anymore from all the cleaning solution. :)

- Spent a whole day with touch ups. Only got two rooms done. I so wished we wouldn't have rushed getting in the house and got all that done before we moved in. Oh well. It will give me something to do this winter when I'm snowed in. Yep, this winter... I am so done with painting for awhile. :) Nothing like procrastination!

- Rearranged the living room for the fourth time since we moved in. :) I love rearranging.

- Went to a Cardinals game. Our seats were AWESOME! We left at the bottom of the ninth inning since one of the lights went out and they stopped the game. Wasn't sure how long that would take plus Mike had to get up at 7 the next morning to help with turkeys. They weren't playing the greatest so I felt like we didn't miss much, but we did miss the firework show that was going to happen at the end of the game. Darn.

This was our view. Pretty nice! I've only been to a game two other times and they were in the nose bleed section so this was a nice treat.

Mike and I at the game before it started. We ended up being on the big TV, that was pretty neat even though we didn't realize it at first looking at it. :)

Took this picture for my dad. Go Union!

Fredbird leading the youth baseball leagues.

There was so many there, I didn't think the line of little league teams was ever going to end.
Pretty evening sky. The weather was perfect and was actually cool for a late June evening.

- Got a LOT of me time which I LOVED.

- Said goodbye to a wonderful Pastor, Karen. She was the best, Glasgow is getting a very special lady. Our new Pastor has some big shoes to fill.

Deodorant

Okay I have a personal question and would like your opinions. Do any of you have deodorant problems? Like it not working well, rubbing on clothes(even staining some of my clothes) and flaking off like crazy. I would think a deodorant should work by just using it once a day if you're not doing any physical activity. I have tried several and I mean several brands, but just can't seem to find any that work. I really don't want to buy the medicated kind because who wants to spend that much just for deodorant. Guess if worse comes to worse I may have to. I've been using secret natural instincts. It seems to work okay, but it flakes off (and I don't over apply it) and rubs off on my clothes. I have so many sleeveless work shirts that I don't wear simply because they aren't white and will show my deodorant. It's getting very frustrating. Sorry for such a personal question but I need you help! :)

As soon as I get time to download pictures I will post about my week off. I felt so blog deprived last week. :)

Horoscope

I had to make one more post before I leave on vacation. I was looking through our Monday paper to make sure my ads were correct and read the horoscope. Thought this was funny considering Mom and I are going shopping Monday. Plus I have tons of coupons to use. lol

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22) — Situations that call for collective bargaining could benefit you greatly because of your natural ability for just that. The other party will recognize and welcome your sense of fairness.

M.I.A.

Don't forget I will be out on vacation all next week so there will be no blog posts. Too bad I won't be on a beach like shown in the picture, but being away from work for a week is just as good. I have been looking forward to this vacation time since I took over back in November. Long over due.

Have a great weekend and week stuck at work! Ha!

Woot Woot!!

Okay, so I have a confession. I have never been to the Missouri State Fair. Well that is about to change because... I'M GOING IN AUGUST TO SEE JASON ALDEAN! Too bad Eric Church isn't performing before like when they toured together. Going to be a great concert with great friends!

Speaking of Eric Church. Ever since seeing him in concert, I think it would be stinkin' awesome if he sung his song "Smoke A Little Smoke" with Willie Nelson. Would be too funny and yet too perfect for those two. The song would be even better than it already is! ;)

Wednesday Ramblings

...I think after having the house oh close to six months it's time to get the touch ups FINISHED! Long overdue. Plan to work on that during my time off.

...Well guess what?? I'M GETTING AN EDGE!!!!
You ask how? Well you see, I AM going to win the 2011 Ford Mustang they are giving away at the Rolla Carnival and trade it in for my dream Edge. ;)

...My favorite song the past few months has been Dirt Road by Jason Aldean. Blake was a little uneasy to learn his April had a new favorite song that even beat our song, Big Green Tractor. After reassuring him it was sang by the same guy, he was okay with it. :)

...I usually don't buy sweets, but I came across Sandies cashew shortbread cookies and thought I would try them. I prefer soft cookies so I was a little unsure if I would like these since they were a little hard. Well I love cashews so I gave it a shot. The taste over powers the hard cookie. :) LOVE em'!

Burst my own bubble

Isn't she a beaut? I am obsessed with this model and look at those wheels. Makes my mouth water. :) Knew it would cost a lot, but I was still curious to a more round-about figure. If there was a way I could get that price knocked down by a LOT then I would be a new owner of an Edge Sport. Nothing like bursting your own bubble. Darn the luck. Everyone needs to stop buying Edges so they will go back down in price like when I bought mine in 2007. Please and thank you! :) At least my car is still running good as new since the day I bought it. Knock on wood.

Weekend Recap

Friday I went to my grandma and grandpa Feeler's after work for a drop-in dinner. It was for Zachariah's birthday who was MIA for the evening due to basketball camp. Which meant more strawberry cheesecake for the rest of us! :) Not sure what the name is exactly of the cake, it's sort of like a jello cake, but my aunt was calling it a cheesecake. Either way it was delicious.

Saturday Mike had to help his uncle at the turkey house so I cleaned the house and got ready for the wedding of Justin and Ashley Bax. After Mike had finished it was too late to make it for the wedding so we went straight to the reception early that afternoon. The weather was perfect for a wedding in June. Finally got to see my bestie, Danielle. Here is a few pictures. Didn't take very many since I forgot my camera in the truck until it was time for the dance. Which my camera is crap when it comes to dark lighting and movement! I think I need to break down and buy a new one, very soon!
Tossing the garter.

Danielle and Ashlie.

Ashlie, Danielle and I. Darn camera!

Sunday we went to Mike's mom and dads for dinner. Came home to start in on my windows, the seals, panes and all. They haven't been clean cleaned since we got the house. They were filthy and I'm still not done. I got the back door, kitchen windows and my bathroom finished. Ended up using all my antibacterial wipes, went through 2 1/2 rolls of paper towels and half of my window cleaner. I could of kept going by obviously using a rag and water. But they were so filthy that I would have to kept changing the water every time I turned around. lol Watched a good movie, Letters to Juliet. It's a movie that you can pretty well guess how it's going to turn out, but you still have to watch it to the very end. The rest of the evening was a pretty lazy one.

Etsy

I've read on several blogs I follow and even on randoms blogs I've came across about etsy.com. I never went to the site until YESTERDAY. Wow, I was really missing out. Love it! There's so much to choose from and a great way to find that unique special gift for someone. I bought these stickers for a baby coming this fall. I like to buy early when it comes to gifts. Guess that's the grandma Dodie in me. She always had Christmas bought and wrapped two months early. I'm not sure the momma is aware of these monthly stickers so it will be a neat-unique gift to give along with some onsies.

Wednesday Ramblings

...Mike and I are attending a wedding this weekend for friends of ours in Westphalia. Mike may be in the field during the day so we may just attend the reception. Which is also the evening of his bowling party. Not sure how we're going to juggle both, may just have to attend the wedding.

...I spent a little extra for my vehicle to get serviced at a local dealership plus washed, waxed and interior cleaned last week. It looks amazing. I swear it's a new color of red, but in a good way. ;)

...I wish more people I know would have blogs. I love reading them. Plus it's a good way to tell your life without the whole world knowing like facebook.

...I hate it when people here at work don't turn there volume off on their cell phone and worse yet let it ring and ring. It's one of my biggest pet peeves. It's the first thing I do when I get out of my car is to put it on silent.

...9 more days until VACATION! :) Looking forward to it, but it looks like there may not be a Cardinals game. :( A guy Mike works with can get them for free. Well so far he hasn't gotten them and I'm sure if I order tickets now they may not be the greatest of seats. If that's the case its not worth going in my opinion.

Thirty One Purchase

Here's what I got at the Thirty One party I attended a few weeks ago minus a mini zipper pouch that was on sale for $2.31. Can't beat that. I thought I wouldn't like the pin strip bag that much but I love it. Kind of thinking I shouldn't have gotten the plaid one. I like it, but got a little carrier away with buying. lol Oh well, I know they will both be put to good use. :)

Weekend Recap

Friday
After work I picked up the Allen boys then headed home. Got the octopus sprinkler out, which I got what I paid for. Cheap! It didn't work very good at all, but we made the best of it. Made tacos for supper then Blake headed with Mike down to help with hay for a neighbor.

The failed octopus sprinkler.

Nathan watching big brother play in the sprinkler. He wasn't a big fan of the water.

Blake blowing bubbles.

Nathan leaving Mike a nice present. These next two pictures were too priceless not to share. ;)

Still struggling. lol

Saturday
Mike and Blake both got up really early to help at the turkey house. It was already extremely hot so after that Blake decided to stay with Nathan I to cool off until after lunch. We watched a cute movie, Cats & Dogs. After lunch Mike came to pick up Blake so he could go help the big guys haul hay. Nathan and I played outside some, watered flowers then went back in to get in the air. We both took a nap. We had such rough day.. not! :) Once we woke up, mom was there to pick them up.

A picture of Blake, Nathan & Mike before they left.
After the boys left Mike and I headed back down there where they were finishing up the last load of hay. Ate supper at Kittys and called it a night.

Sunday
Another day back at the farm. Spent the afternoon and most of the evening riding in the tractor with Mike while he disced the fields. Next time I will not wear flip flops while being the gofer for getting stuff for them with the four-wheeler. I'm now supporting a huge bruise on the top of my foot. Live and ya learn. Came home and still had time to plant the vines my mom brought over before dark in my back flower bed.

Bayou Book

I was searching this morning trying to think of something to buy my dad for his birthday, which is at the end of next month. I came across this book based on the bayou like on the show, Swamp People that my dad loves to watch. The book isn't based on the lives of the people on the show. It's real life stories straight from the bayou, good and bad experiences. It's something for him to read so that's right up his boat.

This man. My father talks like Troy Landry from Swamp People when he has a mouth full of chew. Word for word. It's hilarious.

This is Troy Landry from Swamp People.

Bayou book.

He loves to read + loves to watch swamp people = the perfect birthday present!

Tongue-tied Thursday

Yummy Supper

We've had round steak to use and I've seen this recipe posted more than once on Mrs. Ree's blog, Marlboro Man Sandwich. So I decided I might as well try it and use up the round steak. It was delicious and very easy to make. Although our packages of round steak are ginormous, (seemed like 5 pounds, no joke!) so I gave the rest to mom and dad for them to try. I didn't have any french rolls, so I just used over sized hamburger seed buns and added Swiss cheese.

If you have not read her blog or the recipe she has posted, here it is:

Recipe: The Marlboro Man Sandwich

Ingredients
  • 1 whole Large (or 2 Small) Onions
  • 2 sticks Butter (lots And Lots Of Butter)
  • 2 pounds (to 3 Pounds) Cube Steak (tenderized Round Steak That's Been Extra Tenderized)
  • Lawry's Seasoned Salt (or Similar Seasoned Salt)
  • ½ cups (approximately) Worcestershire Sauce
  • Tabasco Sauce, To Taste
  • 4 whole French/deli Rolls

Preparation Instructions

Slice onions and cook in 1/4 stick butter until soft and light brown. Remove and set aside.

Slice cube steak against the grain. Season with Lawry’s.

Heat 2 tablespoons butter over high heat (in same skillet) until melted and beginning to brown. Add meat in single layer. Cook one side until brown, then flip and cook until brown, about a minute on both sides.

Add 1/2 cup (at least) Worcestershire sauce, 5 to 6 shakes Tabasco, and 2 tablespoons butter. Add cooked onions. Stir to combine.

Butter halved French rolls and brown in skillet.

To assemble, lay bottom half of French roll on plate. Place meat mixture, followed by a spoonful of juice from the pan. Top with other half of roll, cut in half, and devour!

Wednesday Ramblings

...We have the Allen boys again this weekend. I'm a little excited about this because... we get to try out the OCTOPUS sprinkler! lol Hope it works. Blake also gets to help Mike in the field. Not sure who's more excited, Mike or Blake?

...I'm finally getting used to my hair, but I still miss it being long. :( Although with what humidity we've already had, it sure feels good not to have a blanket of hair around your body. :) Pictures to come soon, I promise!

...Two years ago my neck started bothering me again from an accident I had as a child. If you haven't read that story, you can click here. So I had to make the dreaded trip back to the chiropractor after years of not seeing one since the accident. So glad I found a good chiropractor here in Rolla that I can trust, Dr. Heitman. At that time, he took an x-ray and it showed my neck out of alignment at the base of my SKULL. It looked disgusting and looked like my neck was barely attached. He was able to fix me right up after several monthly adjustments. Well I've been neglecting my monthly appointments for quite some time now. Just been too busy with work, then would forget when I did have time to make an appointment. I know it's a poor excuse. Well the past few weeks my left shoulder blade-middle of my back has been hurting very bad on a daily basis. It feels sort of like a pulled muscle, but not really - it was worse. Hard to explain it exactly. The only way it got better was when it would eventually pop on it's own up by the base of my neck. I was a little afraid I let my appointments go too long resulting in more damage. So glad he was able to fix me up and it wasn't related to my neck injury. I'm making myself get back into my monthly appointments. It's not like it's that difficult to go. I can just go on my lunch and I'm usually in and out within 10-15 minutes. Piece of cake!

...I got my week off in June approved. So excited! It couldn't come fast enough. Planning on a Cardinals game, possible shopping trip with mom, "late" spring cleaning, and possibly a winery trip or two. Counting down the days... 16!
