Reba

Either my mom and I have no work life or we're just retarded. I can only speak for myself, I have no work life... well sometimes!

We are always quoting from the show Reba or what we think they would say. Mom is Barbara Jean and I am the fierce Reba! Usually our conversations through email end like this...

Connie: Oh, Reba, can’t you miss me just a little bit?

Me: BARBARA JEAN!! How in the heck am I suppose to miss you when you're at my house all day long! Go HOME so I can miss you!
Babara Jean: Oh Reba... you really know how to make a girl feel so...
Reba: STOP, STOP RIGHT THERE, DON'T SAY NO MORE
(as she is pushing Babara Jean out the door)

I think we need to be more productive at work!

New Shirt

It never fails something I love to wear always gets ruin. This is the second or third time I wore this shirt from Maurices and now it has a small hole. :( I am sort of hoping my Lia Sophia bracelet is the culprit and it wasn't caused by the thin quality of my shirt. Only time will tell...

My new favorite shirt.

The culprit!

Days like today...

Days like today makes me wish I didn't sell my Camaro! :( I LOVE loved driving it, especially taking the t-tops off to enjoy the weather even more. It's been a little over three years and I still regret selling it. I wanted to sell it because I needed and wanted something safer to drive back and forth to work, when I worked in St. Robert. There was several times where I prayed I would make it home safely. Those hard rainy days doesn't mix with the interstate and semi's! I still recall an accident on the interstate on the Jerome exit/hill (bad hill by the way). The sign said left lane closed. So me as well as everyone else besides the semis stayed in the center lane since it turns into 3 lanes not know the center lane and the left were both taken by fire crews etc. from the accident. Long story short my little Camaro came within a couple of feet from sliding underneath a semi.

Maybe one day I will get another Camaro, highly doubtful but one can only wish! At least I know my car has a good owner and loves it just as much as I did.

Recap of my Weekend

Friday I had to work late so I ended up just staying home that evening.

Saturday I got up early to find our pool almost empty! I was a little furious as I had planned to get in it after mowing. After I finished mowing I drained the pool so I could patch up the 4 inch hole. Mom watched a neighbors little boy, Desmon. He was a big help with helping me get the pool up and ready to fill it back up. That evening Mike and I headed to Rolla to go out to eat. We were going to eat at Gordoz since they just opened at their new location this past week. They were packed so Applebees it was. I decided to try the quesadilla burger, it was okay. Something I tried once and won't order it again!

Sunday we headed to St. Elizabeth's picnic. Turned out to be a great day for it and wasn't too hot out. Last year I played bingo about all day and never won. This year was a different story, I won twice... $8.75 the first time and $4.75 the second! Ended up leaving a little earlier than I anticipated. Had a massive headache so I headed home for some medicine and a much needed nap. Ended the evening doing laundry and watching Army Wives.

Kids say the darnest things...

At Blake's birthday party on Saturday him and Zachariah were taking the decorations off his cake. Zach was telling him about his fish he had caught. I thought the conversation was funny especially coming from a 5 years point of view, he did have a good point.

Blake: Why did you take your fish back down to the water, Zach?

Zach: Because the fish weren't flopping as much anymore and I didn't want them to die since Uncle Dwayne and I can't cut them up until later.

Blake: Oh... as he is removing the pig toy from his cake you mean fish flop too? Just like a pig?

Zach: WHAT? Pigs don't flop, silly. Only fish do.

Blake: Nooo Zaaaaaach. Remmmember when April shot the pig for the pig roast and she shot it between the eyes? Then pig fell over and flopped around. Pigs do flop!

Zach: Oh well I guess when you look at it that way, pigs can flop.

Blake: See Zach I knew pigs flopped just like fish do, right April?

Me: Yep they sure do!

Grandma's Summer Dessert

My grandma Feeler makes this dessert quite often. A light cool dessert perfect for the summer months. One of my families' favorites.

1 Cake Mix (any flavor you like)
she uses white cake mix

1 small pkg jello (any flavor you like)
she uses strawberry

1 small pkg instant vanilla pudding

1 and 1/2 cup milk

5 to 6 oz whipped topping

Mix and bake cake according to box directions. While cake is still hot, poke holes all over the cake with a fork. Mix jello according to package directions and very slowly pour all over the cake. Let is soak in good and cool. Mix the vanilla pudding and milk let set up a little and fold in the whipped topping. Frost cake. Keep in the refrigerator.

I believe she adds more jello than what the recipe calls for, it's more moist than the picture shows.

Blake's Birthday

I think at this point Nathan was growling back at dad.

Blake and Desmon, these two have became quite the friends.

Movie Review

The Bounty Hunter
Saturday night Mike and I watched the Bounty Hunter starring Jennifer Aniston. It's about a bounty hunter who learns his next assignment is his ex-wife, a news reporter who is working on a murder cover-up. Once they meet up they find that both of their lives are at stake. It was a very good movie and I highly recommend watching it.
I give it two thumbs up!

Little Blake

This weekend is Blake's 5th birthday. Hard to believe little Blake who I used to watch when I was laid off from work is now turning 5 and going to Kindergarten this fall. I can remember his first day at my house, I thought to myself what am I getting into. He was so heart broken, didn't know me or my family and cried just about all day for his mommy. Literally to the point it just about made him sick. He would sit by the window sobbing and crying out for his mommy. Poor little guy was so scared. Luckily for me dad had knee surgery and was home as well for a couple of weeks. In this time frame he helped me to break his shell and to like the idea of coming to April's house. Now Blake and his family feels like part of our family. We are very close to them and Blake along with his baby brother Nathan feel like nephews to me. We love them very much and feel like little kids getting anxious for the next time we get to see them. So for now they are my nephews on the "loan", as mom and dad always say its their grandkids on the "loan". They will always hold a special place with us.

Blake is a fun kid who loves to help farm, drive the tractor (literally knows what each lever is for), swimming, to be outside and most importantly be the greatest big brother. Happy 5th birthday to Blake Allen!

His birthday invites I made for him.

Chocolate Covered Cashews

I believe this has to be my all time favorite snack. When I feel the need to splurge a little and treat myself this is my go-to food. Works great with a french vanilla cappuccino! ;o)

Weekend Recap

Friday Mike and I went to his friend, Brian and Colette's house to drop off a window Mike had fixed for them and ended up staying late. Had a nice evening visiting and admiring their beautiful house.

Saturday I was feeling crappy from allergies! I think this is the fourth time this year, it's getting very old. So I headed home early to take some meds and to get some rest. Made tuna salad then got ready to head to Malindas. It was nice to have a mini girls night or well evening at her Jordan Essentials party.

Sunday I went to church with mom and stayed for the church's ground breaking ceremony with fried fish dinner to follow. After wards we headed to Rolla to pick up Blake's birthday present for this Saturday and stopped at Wal-Mart so mom could pick up some groceries. Got home just in time before it stormed like crazy. Luckily we didn't get hit with severe winds or hail. Mike's "grocery getter" didn't get so lucky. His brother took Mike's S-10 to his girlfriends house in Tuscumbia where they received major hail damage. The windshield is busted, the picture to the right shows a dent on the top of his truck. That evening mom fixed tacos for dad, Todd and I.

Weekend Recap

Friday Mike and I went to a friends house to visit and to see his brand new Dodge truck. Very pretty!

Saturday I headed home to have coffee with mom and dad then we headed to our church's parsonage for some yummy breakfast. I think the food gets better and better every year. Had biscuits & gravy, cheesy hashbrown casserole, eggs, sausage and pancakes. They said in church they served around 185 people that morning. Very good turn out. That evening we went to my mom and dads friend's house for BBQ and to watch fireworks. Such a nice evening and visit. Could even see fireworks going off around Doolittle, Rolla and a few other locations in the distance.

Sunday went to church. At noon Mike and I headed to my great Aunt Jessie's for BBQ, fish and tons of fixings. Elrod get-togethers you never have to worry about starving. One of my dad's cousins came up with a new hushpuppy recipe; one egg, crushed crackers, can of mushroom soup and some corn bread mixed. Tasted like fried mushrooms. Yum! Afterwards we headed to Mikes Aunt's house for yet another BBQ for his grandma's birthday. That evening we went to a friends house in town to watch fireworks. Finally got to meet baby Hunter Libbert, too bad I left his gift at Mike's house. Oh well just an excuse to go see him again very soon.

Monday Mike's dad fried chicken, chicken gizzards, potatoes and biscuits. I've never had chicken gizzards so I thought I would try them. They were okay, very chewy and I doubt I will ever have them again. Then came home to relax in the pool.

Randoms

Some randoms thought for the day!

- Still loving my new straight hair. Loving it even more with a little gel in it. Before if I applied gel to my hair it looked very not-so-pleasant sloppy.

- I love mozzarella cheese sticks in individual wrappers. They're my new favorite snack!

- Excited to see family members and friends this weekend. Always good to have a special get togethers with the people that mean the most to you in life. Saturday Mike and I are going to Mike & Susan's(friends of my mom and dad) house for BBQ and to watch fireworks. It's so pretty at their house, it overlooks several vallys. So on the 4th of July weekend you can see firework displays going off everywhere on the hillsides. Sunday we going to my Great Aunt Jessie's for an Elrod get together. Always a good time and always feel a presence there of my grandpa Andy. To me him and his sister, Jessie seem the most alike in their family. That evening Mike and I are heading to his Aunt's house for supper for his grandma's birthday.

- Something I need to work on is being on time at work! I've gotten really bad at being 5-10 minutes late. Even though no one here cares, everyone else gets here late and I make up the time on my lunch... I feel its very unprofessional. Need to work on this asap!

- Speaking of time at work... I am very OCD on my hours down to the very last minute. I always try to make sure I get in exactly 40 hours a week if not more. Even though whats a couple of minutes going to matter on my check.

- Love the weather we've been having this week, but it makes for a cold swim in the pool.

Have a wonderful & safe 4th of July Weekend!!
