Wednesday Ramblings

...crossing my fingers that my allergies allows me to work in the yard this weekend along with weather permitting...and I get a three day weekend. So looking forward to sleeping in on Monday.

...after this week, work should be a breeze for the next month. So glad I will have all the major publications DONE by Friday.

...I was bummed I lost out on my NCAA Bracket. Thanks a lot BYU! ;) But on a good note, the lady that won is buying pizza for everyone.

...Yesterday morning I woke up at 4 a.m. and COULD NOT go back to sleep. Our furnace had QUIT. First time I've ever been so excited to go to work, just because I knew I would be warm. It ended up being something that holds something that makes something compress something. Did you get all that? They had never seen the something rot off like it did. So it's temporarily fixed until the something part comes in along with new burners. So thank you Priority Heating & Cooling for getting us fixed and running back to normal. Yay!

Weekend Recap

Friday I spent the evening with mom and dad instead of being lazy while Mike had to bowl. They brought over some lilies and three red bud trees. Dad insisted they be planted despite the call for nasty weather over the weekend. So I hope they survive okay. We played dominoes the rest of the evening.

Saturday we headed to Rainbow Lanes at 12:30 to start bowling. We all beat our average in bowling and ended up getting first place. :) Which of course we donated the money back for the March of Dimes. I had signed up to win Cardinals tickets. I thought I had it in the bag since it was about 3 minutes before the silent auction was finished...nope someone else came right after me and won it by a $1. lol Darn the luck!

Sunday I woke up and began cleaning. It still amazes me how much laundry Mike and I accumulate over just a few days. Took a break to eat lunch at Mike's mom and dads. Mike and Randy had to help with the farm so luckily I got a ride back to the house from Elizabeth and little Ms. Kylie so I could finish what I started. It's only been a week since I cleaned the floors, it amazes me how much I loose hair. I swear every nook and cranny in that house had a wad of my hair! Talk about gross!! Got my Uppercase Living saying hung up. It's not as big as I thought it would be, but I still love it. I knew I should have got the biggest size they have. Oh well there is always next time... because I've already scooped out at least three more areas in my house to put some more. Made some homemade vegetable beef soup and capped off the evening watching a very touching episode of Army Wives.

Weekend to come...

Since work has surprisingly came to a halt this afternoon, I thought I would blog... plus I may not have time to do my weekend recap next week, so this sums it up a little.

Tonight my plans are to eat some yummy cheese pizza. I feel bad I can eat meat on Fridays when Mike can't. So I don't eat it, at least not around him. I'm being a good Catholic supporter! Plus I am IN-LOVE with Merten's cheese pizza right now...so yummy. Mike has to bowl the early shift so I think I will just opt to stay at home and get some laundry done and DVR shows watched! Nothing better to do on a crappy day like this than to pig out and be lazy! ;)

Tomorrow (early afternoon) Mike and I are off to Rainbow Lanes' to bowl in a tournament for a good cause, the March of Dimes. Not sure what the plans are after...

Sunday the weather isn't looking too promising as well. I am getting antsy to get outside and do some major clean up. Our yard needs some TLC right now. Leaves picked up, sticks, shrubs trimmed, spread grass seed, clean my garage floor, get paint scrapped off the shed door... oh the list could go on and on. Call me CrAzY, but I'm looking forward to it and my allergies better stay away this weekend!

Wednesday Ramblings

...this is the first year I have ever done a bracket. I'm not a sports person, but thought what the heck, I'll give it a shot this year. We have about 12+ people here at my work and some of their spouses participating for $5 each. A co-workers wife won it last year and the odds are in her favor so far to win it again this year. She doesn't watch sports either, her strategy last year was by picking her favorite mascot and this year her favorite color. Well I picked BYU to win it all, yes I did just say BYU (lol). Ha, you can tell I don't know what I'm doing. I tried to change it at the last minute to Kansas but the person in charge said nope I was too late. Darn it! Oh well, so far they coming through for me, so I'm hoping they will win it all. :)

...This Saturday afternoon Mike and I along with three others are bowling at Hooks to raise money for the March of Dimes. I'm sure I will be lousy at bowling, but at least I will have fun trying.

...Got three tabloids sent off to press already this week...feel like I can breath just a little. Still have two Chamber Directories magazines to finish up by next week if I don't lose my mind by then.

...I've been wanting to make cake pops after reading a post from a fellow blogger. They look delicious and so easy to make, or at least she made it look easy. :) If I get time this weekend I'm going to make it with confetti cake, strawberry icing(my fav!) covered with white chocolate.

...still waiting and hoping to win a camera or a KitchenAid mixer from PW. Crossing my fingers and toes. Nikon camera is up for grabs this week!

...as of this week, our heat is officially turned off. Well...that is if we don't get that big snow storm next week that the farmer's almanac is calling for. Which the weather has been so nice so I don't see it happening. Then again it does seem like the last big snow we had it was really nice the week before!? CrAzY weather!

New way to peel potatoes

My mom just emailed me this video of an easier way to peel potatoes. Looks so easy, who knew? Enjoy.

Wonder if it's really that easy?

Weekend Recap

Friday Mike and I attended a benefit.

Saturday I woke up with a cold/allergy crap so I took benadryl. I knew it would knock me out sooner or later, but it's the only thing that seems to work for me. I was desperate. Went to Mike's mom and dads to eat then headed back home to sleep. I slept till Mike got back from the farm which was at 5:30! Guess I needed it. I seemed to be feeling much better so I got ready so we could meet some friends to head to the Argyle Pub. I was drained so I didn't have a whole lot of fun. Was so ready to go home and sleep. Not like I didn't get enough sleep that day!

Sunday was the same routine as the day before. Took benadryl, headed to Mike's mom and dads for dinner which consisted of baked chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy and corn. Yum! Then headed back home to sleep. Slept till it was time to head to my mom and dads. Mom made lasagna, crescent rolls, salad, corn, and apple dumplings for dessert. I was stuffed!

As for today I am so glad my body has seemed to kick most of this allergy crap out of my system. Hated that I had to miss two gorgeous days by sleeping for what felt like an eternity! :(

Wednesday Ramblings

...a good friend from my new hometown lost her mother this week, she was way too young and so unexpected. So my prayers go out to her and to her family through this difficult time. Very sad.

...I really hate this time of the year due to daylight savings. It always throws me off schedule for at least two weeks or so. The past two mornings I have found myself wanting to fall asleep at the wheel! Yea. Not good. Thank goodness for caffeine!

...I love french vanilla cappuccinos. ADDICTED!

...I dislike the student crosswalks here in Rolla. They are a pain literally, it's usually hard to see a student especially when they dart out behind parked vehicles. It's state law to stop, but I along with others tend to not do so unless we absolutely have to due to a student walking out oblivious to any cars or a cop happens to be close by. Oops!

...I wish Spring weather lasted longer than it does. I hate the extreme summer heat/humidity...as I used to say when I was little "mommy make it stop!", referring to my sweat.

...my plant I got from grandparents last week smells like something is burning like rubber. It took me awhile to realize it wasn't coming from the dryer or from downstairs. It's not a strong odor, just not an expecting smell one might get from a flower.

...so far Mike and I already have about 4-5 weddings we have to attend this year.

...sorry for the frequent blog changes to my background, etc. I like to change it up a lot and tend to not like what I put on there after a few days. Sorry if this annoys anyone...I know it annoys me since I can never make a strong decision on just one.

...no major plans for this weekend, which I LOVE!

St. Pats Parade

You can't see the whole truck very good, but I thought it was too neat not to share. This was one of our The Rolla Daily News' pictures from the St. Pats Parade that took place here in Rolla last Saturday. I hate that I have to miss it due to Mike's bowling tournament in Springfield being on that same weekend every year. It's always a good parade to attend and one you won't forget.

Here is a few more random pictures of the parade in case you missed it like I did.

View

One of the reasons the living room is my favorite room in the house is because I can stare at this beautiful church any time I want. It's so serene to look at.

Weekend Recap

Friday we spent the evening at Randy and Elizabeth's house for Kylie's 3rd birthday.

Saturday got up early to get ready for Springfield. Mike along with other guys from St. Elizabeth had to bowl in a tournament. We rode up there with our neighbors, Aaron and Andrea along with Mike's brother Randy. Stopped at Hooters for lunch. Not my cup of tea atmosphere wise, but the food and the service was surprisingly good. Luckily there wasn't many people there since we literally needed to get in and get out within an hour to make it back to the bowling alley in time for them to check in. After dropping the boys off Andrea and I along with two other girls went shopping. Neither of us had very good luck at the mall. Anything beat sitting in the dingy smoke filled bowling alley. I had forgotten how much it stunk in there. We did manage to find some good items at Gordmans. I love that store! Plan to go back asap with mom so I can get some home decor I found and loved. It was too big to even think about bringing back with us, plus it was only $24! By the time we checked in to the hotel and headed back to the alley the boys were finished. Couldn't have timed it any better. A big group of us ate at Springfield Brewery. It was neat to try something different. The guys got pitchers of different types of beer they had. The darkest one tasted like coffee, it was disgusting! Headed back to the hotel before heading across the street to Midnight Rodeo.

Sunday I woke up with a cold. Nothing like being sick and away from home. Stopped at a gas station on the way home so I could get some meds. It worked and knocked me out for most of the ride back home and the rest of the afternoon. For supper I made homemade chicken noodle soup. Well it was as homemade as I'm going to get, the noodles were Amish noodles that I bought at Wal-mart. Not exactly the same as homemade, but close enough.

Hope everyone had a good weekend and enjoyed the nice weather on Saturday as it quickly went away. I was shocked to see about 1 1/2 - 2 inches of snow at our house this morning.

Wednesday Ramblings

...NONE of my dresses sold at my work's swap and shop. Seemed like everyone wanted big dresses. Which all of mine were more form fitting from weddings.

...I love tanning. It's so calming and a good stress reliever from work during my lunch breaks. I just got a tanning package for the year at Tan Oasis. So excited! I know it's bad for you and to reassure my readers I am not a frequent tanner! Which I'm sure any of you that see me time to time can tell because my skin isn't leather looking/too dark, etc.

...tanning helps me tremendously with my acne, which is a big PLUS. I think I may have to check into prices at a local dermatologist for acne scar removal. I am so embarrassed by my skin and feel people look at me like I don't wash my face or take care of it. Which I do at least twice a day if not three times. I keep thinking I will grow out of it... someday.

...with my tanning package I received several coupons to use up by the end of the year. Two of the coupons are for a free fit wrap and a mystique tan. Curious to see how both of these will work.

...This weekend Mike and I are Springfield bound along with of other St. E people. Every year they go up there to a bowling tournament and stay the weekend.

...I cannot wait until either this Sunday afternoon or next weekend weather permitting to clean our yard. I plan to get lots done like getting all the leaves and sticks out of the yard, clean the windows and scrub my garage floor really good. If it rains a lot, water runs into the cracks in our garage into the basement. So I would like to get it cleaned asap so we can seal the cracks and seal the concrete. Then onto the basement to do the same. It's doesn't really need it like the garage, but I like everything to be clean clean. I get excited over the littlest of things.

...speaking of windows... I have about 3 or 4 little kiss marks on them from little Nathan. I just noticed them over the weekend and forgot that he was kissing his reflection in the window when I watched him and his brother a while back. :)

...to my surprise Mike mentioned Sunday that I should go ahead and get a new Edge. He gets a little O.C.D. when it comes to vehicles reaching 60-80K miles and mine is currently at 58K. I've been admiring a 2011 white Edge at Denny Ford here in Rolla every day on my way to work. And although the thought of owning that beaut is great, I think I will stick with my current Edge for awhile. At least for now while I still work in Rolla. Plus next year my car will be paid off, so even though my payments wouldn't change much... getting it paid off out weighs the thought of a new car. :( Darn responsibilities kicking in...but you can guarantee when the time comes and I need a new car, it will be a white Edge! I don't think I could ever own anything else, they drive and ride so comfortably.

...What the heck is up with gas prices? I remember back in high school gas was $1.19, seriously doubt we will ever see those days again. One can only wish...

Weekend Recap

Friday after work I headed to an Uppercase Living party. It was so hard to pick, I may go online today to double check if I want to get another one. I had a nice evening catching up with everyone. I missed my Vienna girls!

Saturday I slept in. Yep, that's right April slept in until 11! I couldn't believe my eyes when I rolled over and saw what time it was. This was the first time I've slept that late since moving into our house. I didn't really like it, seemed like I wasted most of the day. Spent the rest of the day doing loads of laundry and deep cleaning the house.

Sunday I cleaned some too. Gosh it sound like my house was a total wreck talking about cleaning all weekend, but it wasn't. It's a lot of work just to keep up with the simple things like laundry, toilets, vacuuming, mopping, etc. Plus I took several breaks to get caught up on my shows I recorded through the past week. :) A good lazy weekend!

Sunday evening my mom and dad brought my grandma and grandpa over for dinner and to see the house for the first time. Todd came a little after. They brought me a flower that grew in a small bowl with rocks. It was very pretty, but for the life of me I cannot remember the name of it. Mom fixed a dish called King Chicken. It was very good, and to my surprise Mike loved it. Had banana splits for dessert. I'll have to get the recipe for her to post at a later date. Spent the rest of the evening chatting it up before they made their way back home.

Black Heel to Tractor Wheels

The past few nights my nightly routine has been getting a glass of ice cold water, turning my lamp on, propping my pillows up and starting to read Black Heels to Tractor Wheels by Ree Drummond. What? Wait! This could not be happening, I hate to read! Literally anyone who knows me knows I would rather watch the movie than to read the book. Am I turning into my mother? This is her nightly routine. Oh no, the thought of it. Well I wouldn't go that far as to read a new book or two every week, even though I have really enjoyed this book thus far. I cannot foresee my future of reading more. I just don't have the patience to sit and enjoy a book. Well unless they are books by Mrs. Ree Drummond! ;)

I highly recommend this book. I also cannot wait until her Charlie the Ranch Dog child's book comes out. I'm sure it will be a fun spirited book filled with her witty child-like humor!

For those of you who have never read about Charlie, he is Ree's basset hound.

Wednesday Ramblings

- My mom called me this morning to tell me she fell down the basement steps again! This is twice in the past year. She's okay just supporting a lovely concussion, swollen head and a sprained neck. So she is very sore today. I plan to skip my lunch today so I can leave early and bring her favorite snack, a sundrop and cashews.
- Today marks the first day with our new water system hooked up or I think it's hooked up all the way. Well I'm not sure if we are going to get charge yet or if they will wait to do the final hook up when everyone on our block has theirs. I DO NOT LIKE THIS. This means my little water bill is now going to sky rocket literally about 3 times.
- Rolla was getting ready for St. Pat's this morning. It's the biggest holiday for Rolla. I've already seen a few MO S&T students this morning doing the tradition of carrying their decorated tree with the roots around town. Also several city workers were clearing the sidewalks to prepare for the parade next Saturday. I wish I would've had my camera. It was kind of funny pulling onto 9th street seeing about 15 of these workers all in orange hoodies, black coveralls and sunglasses clearing the sidewalks with their leaf blowers.
- I am really hoping the big weather the farmer's almanac is calling for at the end of the month is wrong. I have so much due at work around that time. Yes, I am already stressing about it. It used to take three people to do all the special projects now it's just me! So for this month I have two chamber directory magazines to put out, one is 80 pages and the other is 40 along with several special tabloids going out. In the end the overtime will be very nice on my paycheck! :)
- This Saturday my work is putting on a swap and shop. I have six dresses to be sold, so crossing my fingers I will make some money this weekend. They are all dresses from weddings except for one which was my junior prom dress. Hard to think that dress is seven years old, but it actually looks in better shape than the newer dresses I have.
