Friday after work I had to head on over to my work's event The Home & Business Expo at Missouri S&T. I wasn't thrilled about working till 9 with it being a mandatory volunteer!! Luckily I found out today we get paid overtime for it, thank goodness!
Saturday I went to tan and ran on the treadmill. That afternoon I got ready to head over Mike's way for Cookie's benefit. It was good to see everyone come together for a good cause. You could barely move it was so crowded. The silent auction had lasted from 7 till about 11:30. So the band wasn't able to play since they had to clean the hall up and be out by Midnight. By the end of the night trying to talk loud while the auction was going on and dealing with a cold all week I had officially lost my voice.
Sunday I slept in while Mike and Randy went to get some cows. Luckily my voice had found it's way back. Ate dinner at Mike's house then headed to my grandma's to visit with everyone and eat there too! I would get in trouble with grandma if I didn't eat some of her homemade chicken pot pie!!

Weekend Recap
My weekend wasn't too exciting. Friday I went to watch Mike and his team bowl then we met up with some friends afterwards. Saturday went to get my haircut and fixed Mike and I bratwurst and french fries for supper. The rest of weekend was spent in bed resting trying to get rid of this stupid cold. Thankfully Mike cleaned my basement without me asking him, which helped me out a lot!
Week Ahead
Tomorrow I'm attending a funeral for Clair Bennett. He was one of my favorite coffee drinkers when I used to waitress and always asked "How the brat was" (me). A very tragic loss to the Vienna community and the Vienna Quik Spot won't be the same without Clair in there. He always put a smile on your face no matter how bad your day was going.
Friday & Saturday is my work's Rolla Area Home & Business Expo and Taste of Home Cooking School. If anyone is interested it's located at the MO S&T Gale Bullman Multi-Purpose Building. Cooking Show starts at 3:00 pm on Saturday. Home & Business Expo is Friday from 3-9:00 pm and Saturday from 9:00 am - 6:00 pm. So lucky me has to work Friday evening! :(
Saturday Mike and I are attending a benefit dinner, auction and dance for a friend, Jason "Cookie" Boessen in St. Thomas. He was diagnosed last fall with Lymphatic Lymphoma Cancer.

Weekend Recap
Friday
Mike and I just stayed at my house getting everything ready and packed for the weekend trip to Springfield.
Saturday
We woke up early to head for Mike's bowling tournament in Springfield. Met the majority of his team at Applebee's in Lebanon to eat lunch. My food was okay, I've been wanting to try the new Knife & Fork Grilled Sirloin Sandwich. I don't know if I just got an off day or what, it wasn't very good at all. I'll just stick to what I know I like from their menu from now on. After we ate we headed straight to the bowling alley in Springfield since it started at 1:30. It was very packed with teams from all over Missouri and some teams from nearby states. We had a good time but I was very ready to leave after watching them play till 5:30. A few of us, Mike, Aaron and his wife Andrea, Pickle and I ate at the Olive Garden. Our food was very good! After we finished eating we started to head back to the hotel and realized we were almost in an accident. I heard a crushing sound from behind us, it sounded like ice hitting Aaron's toolbox. I knew it couldn't be ice obviously, the van that was to the side of us decided to switch over two lanes behind us and side swiped the car next to us pretty good. Thank goodness it wasn't us and no one was hurt that was involved in the accident. Later in the evening we headed to Midnight Rodeo which was across the street from our hotel. It was okay, not a bar or place we all fit in but we made the most of it and enjoyed watching some of them ride the bull. It was quite comical!
Sunday
We headed back to St. Elizabeth since we had Kylie's birthday party to attend. I can't believe she is already two! She has really grown the this past fall and winter. We had got her a pink John Deere shirt and a book with her picture on it. She loved seeing herself on the book. I had forgot to take a picture of the book, but to the right is a sample picture. I purchased it from walmart.com.
After the birthday party we washed my car and headed back to my house. Kenny and Shelley came down with baby Nathan to work on their house plans with my dad. I had fell asleep, I guess the weekend finally caught up with me and the time change had a little to do with it.
Note: I posted a picture of Adrian in the post below. I wasn't able to find the poem, but I may add one anyway even though it's not the poem read at their funeral

Tribute to Adrian
Today's post is going to be a tribute to a childhood friend, Adrian who was murdered twelve years along with her mom and brother.
Today would've been Adrian's 25th Birthday.
Our families were very close since my dad was her uncle Marvin's best friend. They were a large group known as the "Vichy Bunch". I'm not going to reflect the tragic moments, it is still too hard to overcome and bare. Instead I would like to embrace her life on the good and happy times.
One of my favorite memories was a time my family went to a camp site to visit where the "Vichy Bunch" was staying. This was the summer of 1997. It was the perfect day to go swimming, but I had forgot to bring my swim suit along. I watch and waded in the water while all the other kids swam. Adrian had suggested I just jump in with my clothes on and play marco polo with them since it was so hot out and my clothes would dry in no time. This was a game we had mastered and could easily go on forever not being it if her brother Kyle was marco. We ended the evening shooting off fireworks, making sand castles and playing hide-n-seek with a foam dice. We added in a few rules that who ever found it first had to make it back to a certain spot and would be the winner. Which meant others tackling you for it so they could win. Doesn't sound like too much fun now, but we had a blast and laughed until our stomach's hurt with sand covering our entire body.
A funny story I had with Adrian is when we were little we had a sleep over at my house. I don't remember what all we did since we were very little at that time, but I do remember the next morning. Mom came to wake us up for chocolate chip pancakes and Adrian was no where to be found. Come to find out she rolled off the bed and was sound asleep under my bed. The picture above is of Adrian and I coloring the night before.
My last memory of Adrian was in December of 1997 at her Aunt Susan's house. Her cousin Kelsey and I always loved to play house with our baby dolls, Adrian was more of a tom boy and loved being outside and doing more boy related things. We(Kelsey and I) played most of the day in a small room under the stairs fit perfectly for our "play house" while Adrian played outside with her brother Kyle and cousin Carrie. She kept coming downstairs to try and get us to do things outside with her. I to this day regret not spending more time with her by going outside whether I wanted to or not, and not knowing it would be the last time. Kelsey had bought the three of us friendship rings and gave them to us that day. I still have mine and keep it on a necklace around my mirror in my car. I think of it as a good luck charm and a piece of Adrian I can see each day and remember the good times.
Adrian was a very smart girl and would have succeeded in life in so many ways. It's sad her dream life never had the chance to play out the way it should.
Not a day goes by that we don't think about you,
Not a year goes by that we don't miss you,
Happy Birthday Adrian! R.I.P.
March 12, 1985 - February 5, 1998
Hopefully by Monday I will have a picture and copy of one of her poems. We have several poems she had wrote in school and one was read at their funeral that fit to a "T". Almost like that poem was meant to be read at that time and day.

Blake
Last night we had Blake over. He kept us entertained the whole time with his windy tales and bull riding. Here is a few pictures.
Blake riding his bull
Mike and Blake. Blake was trying to hide from me here, I think he got a little preoccupied with the TV.
Mom and Blake. They have the same pose.
Dad and Blake stuck in TV.
Blake and I making a farm.
Blake with his farm, his bulls weren't cooperating as you can see one "jumped" onto the Tow Truck.
Mike helping Blake tie up his rope to his bull (aka bench).

Weekend Recap
Friday after work I headed to Mike's house to eat some fish and we played the Wii.
Saturday Mike and I spent most of the day by going to look at the river, riding the 4-wheeler and hitting a few golf balls in their field. That afternoon we got a call to bring some water to a neighbor's field where they were burning their fields off and it got away from them. By the time we got there the fire had mostly died down. That evening we headed back to my house to get cleaned up to run into town to buy a few groceries.
Sunday we headed back to St. Elizabeth to meet Mike's uncle at his grandma's before going to church. It's kind of a tradition or routine for Mike and his brother Steven to always go to their grandma's house before church. After church we (Mike, Steven and I) had to get a heifer who was about to have her calf in the pin so they could keep closer eye on her. Well I didn't really helped just watched and helped keep the gate closed. Later we headed back to my house so Mike could watch the race while I cleaned and took a nap. Mom had fixed roast, carrots, corn , potatoes and gravy with lemon cake and frozen peaches for dessert.

Corn Bags, Therapeutical
A coworker of mine, Marcia gave me a corn bag so I could stay warm here at work since I am always freezing! It works great, you just heat it up in the microwave for 1-2 minutes and voila* instant heat to keep warm. You can also freeze it and use it that way.
Microwave It For!
Backaches, Migraines, Arthritis, Bursitis, Insomnia, Sinusitis, Earaches, Menstrual Cramps, Neck Pain, Colic, Muscle Pain, Flu, Fibromyalgia, Stress, Aches, General Pain, and Warmth.
Freeze It For!
Heatstroke, Black Eye, Burns, Bruises, Tendonitis, Hives, Nose Bleeds, Swelling, Fever, Headaches, Toothaches, Sport Injuries, Carpal Tunnel.
**I'm sure most of you already knew this. I looked up my term of spelling for wa la and it's actually spelled voila (vwä-ˈlä). My whole life I've pronounced it starting with a "w" instead of a "v"! Opps!! :o)

Aces of Cakes
One of my new favorite shows is Ace of Cakes on the food network. It's based on Charm City Cakes in Baltimore, Maryland. Their talent is similar to Cake Boss on TLC, but the shows are totally different and each offer something different to the table. Cake Boss is more of a family based business with Buddy Valastro of Carlo's City Hall Bake Shop in Hoboken, New Jersey where Ace of Cakes is about Duff Goldman who went to culinary school and decided to base his techniques into cakes with finding the best team possible to make that dream a reality.
Their talent is amazing, here is a few examples of Charm City Cakes (Ace of Cakes) work:

Bandana's Restaurant
Bandana's BBQ Restaurant is coming to Rolla where the Feedlot Restaurant used to be at along I-44 and formerly known as Ground Round. Their license was just granted Monday so it will take awhile for the restaurant to be running. I think it's a great location for one. Nice to see something going into that building, it's been abandoned for a couple of years and was built in 2002. Was a waste to just sit there!

Weekend Recap
Friday Mike and I just stayed at his house playing the Wii and catching up on my facebook.
Saturday we drove down to the river to kill some time before dinner and played the Wii again. That afternoon I headed home to get ready for a girl's party at Natasha & Dustin's house. We had a lot of fun and it was nice to spend some time with them since I am never around the Vienna area anymore.
Sunday I went to Mike's church with him and spent the afternoon at his house. Then we went back to my house to watch the race. That evening Todd cooked BBQ hamburgers while mom made the side dishes along with Apple Dumplings for dessert.
This week...
Tonight is the finale for the Bachelor! I am super excited for this, but a little disappointed since I am pretty sure Vienna will win Jake's heart instead of Tenley!
Tomorrow Mom is going to have a liver biopsy done. Be sure to keep her in your thoughts and prayers!
Thursday is my work's Lipstick & Purse-N-Ality Event at the Havener Center here in Rolla. I am so glad I decided to decline and not be in the runway this year. It will be nice to be on the other side to just sit back and watch.
