Wednesday Ramblings

- I'm still slacking in the blogging world. Hopefully by next week I can blog more often and catch up on all the blogs I follow.

- I had a very nice four day weekend. Sunday evening Mom and I left for St. Louis and came back home last night. I was so disappointed to not find anything to buy! Guess that's a good thing considering I should save save save for the house.

- As of right now we are still planning to close on Friday as long as the title is done in time. I cannot remember the last time I was able to take a Friday off from work. Plus my work week would only be two days this week! :) So we're crossing our fingers it's not postponed until the beginning of next week!

- I'm looking forward to Friday evening spending it with my besties from high school. We're going to one of the girls' new house. I'm excited to see it all finished since the last time I was there, they were just putting the finishing touches on everything before they moved in. Plus to see everyone and get CAUGHT up on their lives.

Hope you've all had a nice week despite the frigid weather we've been having.

Wednesday Rambling

The closing day on our house is finally in the home stretch! We're crossing our fingers to close next Friday, the 17th. The current homeowners are expecting the arrival of their baby any day now. I'm hoping he/she arrives on time so our date isn't pushed back even more. She is due this Sunday so we shall see...

I've got a 1/3 of my things packed and plan to finish the majority this weekend. Mike thinks I'm crazy that I already have my car crammed full with stuff. He's probably right, but it's items that will stay in plastic bins, can stand to be out in the cold and will go directly to the basement to store once we move in.

So for Mike and I it looks like we will be spending all of our holiday weekends painting and possibly moving everything in.

Hotdogs & Noodles

Our supper recipe with the boys consisted of hot dogs & noodles - Spongebob Squarepants style! Blake and my cousin, Elizabeth helped me put the uncooked noodles into the cut up pieces of hot dogs. We tried to create Squidwards, I think they thought I was crazy but they had fun making them. I didn't get a picture of the Squidwards cooked.

Nathan enjoying his hot dog. He wasn't so thrilled with my mom's take on a bib, it was an old apron she had.

Friday Fun

It's been a long time since we watched the Allen boys and was well overdue! Both Blake and Nathan are growing up so fast.

Here is a video of Nathan with his gibber gabber. Thanks to my dad he now speaks another language. lol Who needs English?

I tried my hardest to get a couple of pictures of the boys together by the Christmas tree. Little brother thought it was fun to sway back and forth hitting his big brother.

I wasn't sure how to rotate a video on my computer. Sorry a head of time if you get a crook in your neck! ;)

Fold Over Pants

About a month ago I purchase a black pair like shown in the picture from JCPenney. I think this has to be the best clothing purchase I've made in a long time. I love these pants and wear it about every night/weekend/etc.! So much in fact that I've put them on every Christmas list possible. :)

Wednesday Ramblings

- For sure this time, we are getting closer and closer to our house. The current homeowners are finishing up last minute details on their new house, so hopefully we will be able to sign papers in two weeks. The downside is Christmas is right around the corner and we may have to move that week or weekend! :(

- I've posted earlier about switching coffee tables. Well a couple of weeks ago Mom and I stopped in the furniture store so I could show her our furniture we ordered. The coffee table seemed to be too big and showed scratches really easy. I was very disappointed. We've been looking and there just isn't much out there right now for tables. At least we can do without until we find something we love.

- I'm leaning more towards the lighter rug. After doing some thinking I realized it would go more with my antique hutch that has to go in the living room. And thanks to a friend for email me great reviews of her rug who has the same one! I may end up dragging Mike into Lowe's so he can see the two and make the decision for me.

- Work has been so hectic, but the overtime has been very nice on my paychecks! :)

- I've gotten all my Christmas shopping done except for my secret Santa gift for Mike's family Christmas.

- One thing I won't miss when I move is the wood stove and filling it up 3 times a day. I think dad is enjoying it while he can!

Help!

I need your help in deciding which rug I should choose. Back in August I purchased this multi colored rug at Lowes.

I really like it, but I'm afraid it's too much of a statement piece for us. You're probably thinking geez April it's just a rug... but it's a rug I will have to look at everyday!

Yesterday I purchased a couple of door mats at Lowe's and stumbled across a very soft shaggy rug. It is similar to the picture below. I was unable to located the exact one online. The color is the same but with a light tan color added to it. So it's an off white and tan in four large squares. The colors are so similar that you can't notice the difference right off the bat. Plus it's about $20 cheaper.

I love the way this shag feels and it's not too much of a shag to where it will be hard to vacuum. Although it is a light color and will show dirt more. Plus the multi rug does have all colors I want in my living room.

So I'm asking for your honest opinion! Do you prefer the multi or the light shag? I'm not sure how to post a poll directly in this post. So therefore my poll is to the right of my blog page or you can just leave you comment on this post. Thank you so much for you help!

Weekend Recap

Friday I had to work late so I just stayed home afterward since Mike had to bowl.

Saturday morning Mom and I headed to the Christmas Market and stopped in at Oak Harvest in town. We wasn't ready to go home so we decided to head to St. Robert. I thought we were going to get lost since Mom wanted to take the long way there from 133 and ended up taking a county road. I was disappointed my camera was being stubborn and wouldn't let me take a picture of a wolf watching some cattle. Yes a wolf! It wasn't a dog and way too big to be a coyote, so it had to be? Wasn't sure as to where this road would lead us to since there was hardly any houses on this road and it was kind of creepy. After finally seeing highway we realized we didn't make it very far from our N Hwy turn off. Oh well we had time to kill and saw new country. Shopped a little in St. Robert before heading to Rolla to JCPenneys. As mom constantly kept saying, "It was a beautiful day". And that it was!

That evening Mike and I went with Mom and Dad to eat at Randy's Road Kill & BBQ. Headed into Rolla to bowl. We had a lot of fun bowling and watching mom yell at the ball going down the lane.

Sunday was a family dinner at the house to celebrate my grandpa's 86th (November 6th) and Mike's 28th birthday (November 10th). I forgot to take a picture of grandpa's card I gave him along with the pictures. I had bought his card a month ago and not realizing it, the theme went "perfectly" with the pictures of grandpa and I dancing when I was a toddler. Before grandpa and grandma left he had to do a gig for me to let me know he still had it in him. :) It was another beautiful day celebrating it with family. After everyone left my cousin Ashlyne and I watched Freedom Writers. It was a good movie. Did some laundry, packed a few more things for the move, and ended the evening watching Desperate Housewives.

Would this scare you?

Well it sure scared me!

Thanks to a carrier this creepy 6 foot statue appeared in our break room last week and was there to stay all week long. Every time I would go in the break room, I would always forget and about have a heart attack turning the lights on to this starring at me. It was so real looking and very creepy.

Wednesday Ramblings - A Day Late!

Sorry it's a day late.

Work has been hectic, but a very good one at that. The work days are going by so fast which I LOVE and not to mention I don't have to deal with a jerk anymore. I knew the coworker that quit a couple of weeks ago had left me with a big mess to clean up. After figuring it all out on my own and a pay raise to boost my motivation, it's been well worth it. I can tell with everyone the atmosphere is so much more pleasant now.

I'm so thankful Mike had the time since I've been so busy with work on checking with other insurances with the house. We found one in Jeff that is even cheaper plus with all three of our vehicles added to it. Can't beat that!

Well speaking of the house our date to move in keeps changing. It may be Thanksgiving weekend and it maybe the weekend after. It's all up in the air. At least we don't have to be in at a certain time. Would like to be in sooner, but we will take what we can get.

Furthermore, I'm sorry if I keep rambling on about the house. That's basically been our life the past few months.

I've been trying to tell myself not to buy anything else for the house unless we absolutely need it. Well that idea didn't last long! Went to Rolla last night with mom and found Christmas ornaments that actually match our future living room. Wasn't planning to match it with my color scheme or to buy ornaments, just happened to stumble across some blue and brown ornaments that I couldn't resist. ;) Which makes mom happy, she gets my Christmas tree bows that I bought last year. I bought 4 rolls of tree ribbon after Christmas last year marked down to $3 each. They were originally $15-$20. Maybe I will have to wait until after Christmas this year to find another bargain like that.

Weekend Recap

Friday night Mike and I stayed in.

Saturday I slept in and got all my cleaning done. My uncle brought his grandson down to show off his small buck he killed. He was pretty proud of it. That afternoon I got ready and headed to St. Elizabeth. Mike and I drove around for awhile to kill some time before heading to the community center for their Halloween dance. It's crazy how I went from just knowing Mike to now knowing just about everyone in St. Elizabeth. It's a small town but I love it and I'm very pleased to call it my home town - in a little under a month that is! ;)

Sunday we went to my grandma and grandpa's for dinner to have none other than BISCUITS and HOMEMADE gravy, sausage, scrambled eggs, homemade syrup and jelly. Can't beat anything that is homemade and made by a very special lady, my wonderful grandma Feeler! Unfortunately it would have asked too much of us to have grandma make the biscuits so they were store bought, but it tasted just about the same. Dad helped her out by scrambling the eggs. Grandpa told me I needed to put the word in more often for a dinner like that. He's already looking forward to the next one and so am I! After dinner we were entertained by my little cousin Lizzy, she is a riot!

Later Mike and I headed to Lowe's to pick up some last minute items on our house list. We are now shooting for Thanksgiving weekend to move in. Not too happy on that, but there is nothing we can do. At least we should have a nice 4 day weekend to try and get painting done and to move in on that Sunday.

Mom fixed her annual Sunday supper which consisted of Chili and grilled cheese. We had a few trick-or-treaters. Watched Desperate Housewives and called it a night!
